Projects - N52 Carrick Bridge to Clonfad

N52 Carrick Bridge to Clonfad

Project Description

The scheme is 5.6km in length and replaced a section of the N52. The new N52 alignment is a standard single carriageway which incorporates a 7.3m carriageway with 2.5m hard shoulders and 3m grass verges. T-junctions have been provided to accommodate local roads and a right/left staggered ghost island junction has been constructed at Dalystown, providing priority to N52 traffic. An overbridge has been constructed to carry the Dunboden Road over the new N52.

There was substantial earthworks on the contract in excess of 350,000T. Substantial quantities of unacceptable material were encountered during the execution of the earthworks programme which were excavated and replaced with suitable fill.
