JCEL were 50% stakeholders in the Joint Venture with John Cradock which delivered this key piece of railway infrastructure in a challenging and varied environment
The reconstruction of the Glounthaune to Midleton railway involved the refurbishment of 11 km of pre-existing railway. The construction of 5 new over bridges,1 new underbridge and 8 upgrades to existing bridges. Installation of two New Steel Foot bridges (spanning the rail way track) and the construction of 2no. new rail stations. The new station at Midleton involved works to the original protected station building, with major refurbishment and extension to provide a modern fit for purpose building and platforms with full accessibility (including new lifts) and 500 car parking spaces. Works at the new Carrigtwohill Station included substantial building works, platform construction and car park construction
There was also substantial earthworks and drainage works with major culvert works within the confines of Inland Fisheries Irelands guidelines
